Summer is in full swing here at the Finger Lakes, and so is all the fun that comes with the season. People travel from all over for a chance to vacation at these fine lakes, and for good reason! Explore numerous water activities, fun breweries and more! We’ve highlighted some of the best ways for you to enjoy your summer while getting some relief from the blazing sun.
At the Beach
The beach seems to be the most obvious place to cool off. Here in the Finger Lakes, beaches are plentiful and ready for relaxation. Robert H. Treman State Park, near Cayuga Lake, has a natural pool fed by a cascading waterfall. Although not a typical beach, the swimming pool in Watkins Glen State Park near Seneca Lake is great for taking a dip. Moreover, Long Point Beach Park on Conesus Lake boasts crystal clear water on a small beachfront. Here you can marvel at the picturesque views, while enjoying a more laid back day at the beach.
Located only a mile and a half from Robert H. Treman State Park, Enfield Manor Bed & Breakfast is a charming historic B&B. While it’s close to all the fun of Cayuga Lake, it’s just secluded enough to offer a place to unwind after a long day adventuring.

Out on the Lake
Chances are if you’re visiting the Finger Lakes, then you’re planning for a day out on one of the pristine lakes in the region. Each lake is well-equipped with watercraft rentals such as kayaks, paddle boards, boats and more! At Canandaigua Lake, visit Seager Marine, where you can rent kayaks, paddle boards, canoes and boats. They also offer private sunset boat tours. If you’re over at Seneca Lake, head to Roy’s Marina to rent a pontoon boat for a day out on the water with all your friends. Over on Canadice Lake, visit Canadice Lake Outfitters for all your watercraft needs. Plus, bike rentals are available if you’d like to take a cruise around the lake.
Near Canandaigua Lake, The Brindle & Blonde Bed & Breakfast is an 1860 farmhouse with all the modern amenities you desire. Enjoy an evening on their outdoor patio, or in the hot tub as you watch the sunset. An oasis like no other, The Brindle & Blonde Bed & Breakfast will be the highlight of your stay.

Sipping Beer at a Brewery
There’s something special about the combination of summer and beer. While the Finger Lakes are known for offering fantastic wineries, the breweries here are worth noting as well. Book a beer tour through Crush Beer & Wine Tours to visit all the best breweries in the area. They service Canandaigua Lake, Seneca Lake, Keuka Lake and Rochester, and can even pick you up from your B&B. On Skaneateles Lake, make sure you stop at Skaneateles Brewery. What was once an old mill has now transformed into a fun and hip brewery. Hang out inside their taproom, or enjoy the outside scenery in their beer garden.
In between Seneca and Keuka Lake, The 1819 Red Brick Inn is a Federal style home offering five lovely guestrooms. Enjoy a cup of coffee each morning outside by the sweet little pond. The charming abode also sits on 8 acres of beautiful countryside if you’d like to take a peaceful stroll around the property.
Chilling at an Ice Cream Shop
By Conesus and Hemlock Lake, make sure to stop in and try Twisters Ice Cream Shop. Enjoy ice cream sundaes, milkshakes and, of course, their signature ice cream. If you’re over at Owasco Lake, Tom Thumb Drive In offers both delectable ice cream and a miniature golf course that overlooks the lake. On Seneca Lake, a favorite is Spotted Duck. They serve amazing ice cream, but are really known for their delicious custard made from duck eggs.
